Team News

Three debutants in the Wanderers starting XI - Jack Grimmer, Alex Pattison and Paul Smyth
Substitute Dave Wheeler became the 4th debutant in the 62nd.
Fellow new signing Fred Onyedinma was introduced in the 69thminute for his third debut in a Wycombe shirt and the first since signing a permanent deal.
This compares to the 2018/19 season when Wanderers fielded no debutants in the opening day (v Blackpool). The record number of debutants for an opening day Football League fixture for Wanderers remains the game with Accrington Stanley at the start of the 2007/8 season.

Bolton included six debutants in their starting XI and introduced two further new faces during the 90 minutes.

Gareth Ainsworth

"We didn't really know the players who we would be coming up against. All of their pre-season fixtures have been behind closed doors, we had little time to prepare for the the players that they put in. It was sort of a case of tossing the coin about how they would play.

"We knew about Oztumer and Lowe and Murphy but a lot were very young and very experienced but some of them have great careers ahead of them. I made my boys aware that we were all 18-19 once and if Phil Parkinson had asked me at that age to play in front of nearly 2000 travelling fans I'd of given absolutely everything. So we had to be on it today and all of the players were."
